Thiago Malheiros Porcino completed his postdoctoral studies at Dalhousie University (Canada) and holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Federal Fluminense University (2021). He also holds a Master's degree in Computer Science from the same institution (2016) and a postgraduate degree in Advanced Computer Engineering from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (2013). He graduated in Computer Science from Gama Filho University (2010) and has over 12 years of professional experience in software development, with a focus on Computer Graphics, particularly in 3D Visualization and Interaction, Simulation, Extended Reality (XR), Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and Machine Learning (ML).

Currently, he is a researcher (Consultant I) at the TecGraf Institute, located at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, and an external collaborator in the Virtual Reality team at the Media Lab in the Institute of Computing at UFF. Thiago has an extensive history of academic awards, including the Honorable Mention - Finalist in the XXXV Thesis and Dissertation Contest (CTD) - Ph.D. category - from the Brazilian Computer Society (SBC), as well as the Best Research Paper award at the Symposium on Virtual and Augmented Reality (SVR 2022). He was also awarded the Best Ph.D. Thesis at SVR 2021, the Best Review Article at SVR 2020, and the Best Master's Dissertation at SBGAMES 2017.

In addition to his academic accolades, Thiago has received several awards as a collaborator with TV Globo, including 1st Place in two categories of the New York Festivals - Best Innovation and Best Use of Technology - and 2nd Place in the VR or 360 Camera Implementations and Set Design categories, all in the same year, at Promax Global. He also has experience as a chair of scientific events, including the Workshop on Interactive Immersive Entertainment: VR/XR/AR in Digital Entertainment (WIIE) at IFIP ICEC in 2022 and the XR Experience at SVR 2021. He served as a committee member and reviewer for CLTD - VII Latin American Doctoral Thesis Contest - CLEI 2021 and currently acts as the main chair of the Working Group: Extended Reality for Digital Entertainment at the International Federation for Information Processing.
